In 2022 he has been honored with the Michael Milken Prize for Excellence in Teaching in recognition of his teaching contributions.

Roni Holler's primary research interest centers around the rights of people with disabilities and the extent to which the welfare state and its key agents – social workers – protect their rights and promote disability justice. Another strand of research focuses on the Israeli welfare state, with a recent particular focus on examining aspects of take-up and administrative burden. Through his work, Holler applies a sociopolitical understanding of social problems and employs a variety of research techniques.
